Cosmetic Procedures Before Your Big Day

Whether it’s a small, intimate wedding or a grand and extravagant affair, every bride shares a common goal: to look and feel her best on her most special day. One of the ways many brides-to-be are now preparing for their weddings is by pursuing the plastic surgery enhancements they have always wanted. Often it’s a tummy tuck, an arm lift, breast implants, or even injectables like Botox® or Juvederm®. Both surgical and non-invasive cosmetic procedures have become essential items on the wedding “to-do” list for many brides.

Bride with her bridesmaidsWe’ve definitely noticed this trend here at Perimeter Plastic Surgery. Each year, as the wedding seasons approach, we get an influx of women who want some “extra help” preparing for their weddings, and we’re happy to assist in any way we can. Obviously, we can’t help plan your wedding reception, assist you with your guest list, or write your vows. But we can provide you with a bridal makeover to help you look and feel your best on your big day. Many women are coming to us for just that.

“A person’s wedding day—or that of a loved one—is a huge day for a lot of people,” says Mark Deutsch, MD, FACS, double board-certified plastic surgeon and medical director of Perimeter Plastic Surgery. “When people start to try on clothes and envision walking down the aisle, they also start thinking about how they can make the day as close to picture-perfect as possible. When you’re getting married, you have a certain vision for your wedding, and some people find they need a little extra help achieving that look for themselves. That’s what we’re here for.”

Besides the obvious aesthetic improvement, another plus about having a bridal makeover is that cosmetic procedures are often easier than most people think. “When many people hear ‘cosmetic procedure,’ they immediately think they don’t have time, when in fact it’s probably much easier to fit into their busy schedules than they realize,” notes Dr. Deutsch.

It’s true that more involved procedures like tummy tucks, breast augmentations, and liposuctions do require longer plastic surgery recovery than non- and minimally-invasive procedures. But with the proper planning, we can help you make it happen. However, if your schedule truly doesn’t permit it, a non-invasive procedure like an injectable dermal filler may be the solution, depending on your needs. Injectables typically require little or no downtime and are usually performed in less than an hour. Even the busiest brides can usually fit these types of procedures into their busy pre-wedding schedules.

What a “Bridal Makeover” Entails

atlanta bridal preferred vendorSometimes people wonder what exactly is involved in a “bridal makeover.” The truth is, it’s not one procedure or a particular grouping of treatments but a term that’s been coined to refer to any number of cosmetic surgery procedures carried out by a bride-to-be during the months leading up to her wedding days to help her look and feel picture-perfect for her special day.

The bridal makeover at Perimeter Plastic Surgery is designed to be tailored to each bride-to-be’s unique needs. You can choose to have as many or as few procedures or treatments as you would like. Procedures can be performed individually or used in combination to achieve maximum results. No matter what aspect of your body you may be unsatisfied with, Dr. Deutsch has a treatment or procedure that can help you! But you do need to plan out what treatments you’d like done and when. This is important because specific procedures need to be done several months in advance, while others can be performed during the last few days or weeks before the wedding.

Here are some of the procedures and treatments that are commonly requested by brides-to-be and when they should be performed:

At Least Four Months Prior to the Wedding:
  • Breast implants and/or breast lift—for natural and proportional breasts to fill out the dress.
  • Liposuction—to get rid of those stubborn inches that haven’t responded to diet and exercise, particularly on the thighs, stomach, arms, lower back, and love handles.
  • Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)—to flatten and shape the abdomen and waist by removing excess fat and skin and tightening the muscles.
  • Arm lift—to remove excess skin and fat from the upper arms.

3 to 4 Weeks Before the Wedding:
Injectables and dermal fillers (such as Botox®, Juvederm®, and Kybella®)—add volume and definition, improve contours, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the face, neck, and hands.
