Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)

rhinoplasty or nose surgery

rhinoplasty or nose job

The goal of a rhinoplasty is an aesthetic reshaping of the nose to please the patient.  The procedure is performed under general anesthesia.  Incisions are generally made inside the nose to provide access to the nasal dorsum, tip and septum.  Patients are required to wear a nasal splint for compression for one week after surgery.  Patients may have difficulty with nasal breathing for the first week secondary to nasal swelling and obstruction from nasal discharge.  Keeping the head elevated as much as possible decreases the amount of postoperative swelling.  Infection and hematomas are uncommon.  Over or under correction are rare complications.
